Rose rolled over and winced. Everything hurt. Her head pounded like the waves crashing against the rocks her bed seemed to made of…
She cautiously opened one eye against the bright, harsh light, which seemed determined to crack open her skull with its intensity, and shrieked.
What in all that was holy was she doing out in the open, stark naked like some siren on rock formation being blasted by the sea? Shading her eyes against the blaring sun, Rose attempted to sit up. Bile threatened to erupt, as her reality dawned on her.
It was as plain now as the ache on her belly, where the dark shape of a dragon haunted her. In her drunken state, getting a tattoo had seemed a good idea, and the man she’d encountered in the parlor…holy hell. Her breaths grew shallow, recalling the immediate effect he’d had on her.
None of which explained why she was here on dragon rock, unless…
A huge shadow blocked out the sun. The wind picked up as giant wings flapped and stone crumbled under long talons. A blink later the dragon morphed into the man from last night.
“I see my mate is awake at last.”
