The knock on the door startled Sophia, and she hastily finished putting in her earrings. They did indeed complement the outfit perfectly, or they would if she managed to get this sinful dress zipped up.
“We’ll be late if we don’t get a move on.”
His deep, gravelly voice sent shivers down her spine, and she forced herself to keep on breathing.
Really, though, that voice.
It promised all sorts of wicked delights to come, and made Sophia wish this was more than just a business arrangement.
“Sophia? I’m coming in.”
Sure enough, before she’d even managed to stumble to her feet, clutching the dress to her chest to hide her modesty, the door opened.
Her breath hitched anew when she saw him in a Tux. No man had any right to look that well put together. It made her feel even more like the poor relation. The stand in, she was. She had to remember that, and not let her feelings run away with her.
The slow appraisal he gave her body sent her heart rate into overdrive, and when he stepped up behind her and turned her around, his hot breath seared her skin.
“Stunning. Let me help.”
