The room was barren, depressing in its shades of nothingness. It fitted the emptiness in her heart. Bright colours had no place in her life, not anymore. First his illness had robbed them of their dynamics, and eventually his life.
Three weeks ago, her brave, gorgeous Sir had died in her arms, a mere shell of his former self. He’d made her promise, though, with his last dying words to go through with this insane plan. It had been written in his will too, there for her to see in black and white. Carmel’s eyes filled with tears, as she slowly took off her clothes, and assumed the required position on the single item of furniture in the room.
This was insane. She knew it and the solicitor had known it too. It had been there in the pity filled look he’d thrown her as she’d signed the consent forms.
Soft chanting filled the room, as the mediums performed the rituals. Despite her skepticism, Carmel felt herself relax. And then she felt him. It was the subtle scent of his cologne she noticed first, then strong hands grasped her.
One last time to give them the baby, life denied them….
