Lost in the music, nothing else mattered. Pulled under his spell, she followed his effortless lead, winding her body around his in the kicks and flicks of their signature dance—the Argentine tango.
Dancing is what brought them together, and here, caught in the moment, the chemistry between them was a living, breathing entity. Never had she felt the push and pull of the dance more, as it told their story.
Hope, passion, love, heartache, and ultimately despair, as Emilio bent her body to his will. His hold on her tightened, and the slightly calloused palms of his hands left a trail of heated awareness in their wake. Her eyes fluttered shut. She breathed in the scent of the man she loved, would always love, as the last crescendo of music stopped, and they came to rest with her bent over his arm.
The applause deafened her, even as the wisps of air that ghosted across her sweat slicked skin told her he was speaking to her. They straightened as one, and with his heart beating an erratic staccato under her ear, she allowed herself that last precious moment.
Shaking her head she walked away.
“You chose her.”
