The world finally stopped shaking, and sneezing the plaster dust out of her nose, Eleanor cracked one eye open to find herself in complete darkness. Cloying, menacing darkness, which made her breathing speed up. The fine hair on her arms rose in fright.
Get a grip, you ninny. This isn’t any different from the other raids you’ve been caught in. It’s just because you’re alone in this cellar.
Feeling along the rough stone wall, Eleanor, swallowed the curse bubbling on her tongue when she found the stairs with her shins, and proceeded to slowly climb up them. Not a sound could be heard when she reached the room at the top of the stairs and those ice cold fingers of foreboding snaked up her spine again. Surely other people ought to be milling about. With her heart beating so fast she felt faint she made her way along the wall until she found the door handle. It felt hot to the touch and she gasped at the sting of static that shot up her arm.
When she opened the door, the full force of the light blinded her, before an unseen power yanked her through.
“Oho, what have we here?”
